   Jessica Welsh - The Gringa..

Jessica Welsh is the founder of Gringa Flan.  A true Gringa.  Her dad was born in New Jersey and her Mom was born in West Texas. 

Jessica has 4 older sisters, and gained her love of cooking at an early age.  Her paternal grand mother was a graduate of PA’s Drexel University as a dietician.  Her mom was a stay at home mom that loved to cook for her family as well as all the neighborhood kids.

When Jessica moved to Miami to study at FIU, she immediately fell in love with all latin flavors that the Miami had to offer.    She was first introduced to flan at an office party…she was intrigued with the magic of flan — with the golden caramel that is uncovered when the flan is flipped. 

She didn’t make her first flan until years later, after she was asked why she never made flan before.  She created her own recipe after a few tries.   But it wasn’t until her nephew was visiting that she created the Signature Coconut flan, which wowed her friends…and that is when she came up with “Gringa Flan”.  

 

   Danilo Vargas -  Marketing

Danny was born in Leon, Nicaragua and came to Miami with his family in the late 70’s.  Danny studied at University of Florida (go Gators!).  Danny is the back bone of the small business incubator of Cutler Bay, South Dade Accelerator. When he’s not helping small businesses grow, he enjoys reading, hanging out with his nieces & nephews and riding his motorcycles!

 

   Sara Gonzalez - Master Baker

Sara was born in Managua, Nicaragua and settled in Miami during the late 80’s. She studied culinary arts from Robert Morgan Technical College where she concentrated in the Pastry and Bakery Arts. She is married with 3 beautiful daughters and three adorable doggies. For fun, she enjoys cooking, gardening and hanging out with friends!

 

    Susan Thomas - Marketing .... & tasting :)

Born in Alabama, Susan had never heard of flan until moving to Miami in 1986. She met Jessica around that time as they were working together in the financial planning industry. Having tried the local flan and not being a fan of it, she was surprised when she was able to try her friend's amazing Gringa Flan! She now has a new favorite sweet and has recently joined the team herself.

 

   Joyce Gross - Sister Extraordinaire

Joyce is Jessica’s oldest sister - and has the best of both worlds - lives in MD in the warm months and Miami in our warm winters.  Her life in MD has her surrounded by her 4 kids, her husband and her adorable grandson Afam.  

 

   Damaris Morera -  my Cuban connection :)

Born in Cuba, and raised in both Chicago and Miami.  Damaris is retired from the accounting field and loves working out, and goofing around with her adorable grandson Aeden, who is also a Gringa Flan Fan!

 

   Ike Teas - my brother from another mother :)

Ike was born and raised in central Texas, and moved to South Florida in the 90’s.  He is the co-owner of Green Owl, a tech product recycling company and helps spread the love of GF!
